Bad Day? Donut Worry

HOW TO FEEL BETTER ON A BAD DAY

We all have bad days. The world around us is moving at top speed, and sometimes it's hard for us to keep up.  There are many things in this world and in our society that can influence our moods negatively. In this blog post, I'm going to share my tips and tricks that help me when I'm in a bad mood. Just a disclaimer that I am in no way claiming that the content in this post will treat mental health-related symptoms. If you are struggling with long term sadness or any other signs of mental illness, please seek help and take care of yourself. With that statement aside, let's get into it.

 A HOT BATH
The first thing I think of doing when I'm feeling shitty is taking a hot bath. I find water extremely calming and rejuvenating. There is something extra special about warm flowing water that drowns out the noise of the thoughts inside my head. It's also a perfect place to pamper yourself with a face mask or a scrub. In the past, a single bath has uplifted my mood. Baths also help me feel present. It is easy for me to dissociate myself and feel disconnected from the world. On days that I am lucky,  a simple bath can bring me back to reality.

 STAYING HEALTHY
When I am hungry, thirsty, or tired, I am much more likely to be in a bad mood. So to you, I say take care of yourself and listen to what your body is trying to tell you. It may seem like an obvious suggestion, but most of us forget that we aren't immortal. To function, you need eight hours of sleep, eight glasses of water, and three meals a day. That's at the minimum. Next time you aren't feeling your best, make sure you attend to this mortal issues first.

Tips For Staying On Track
1. A 500 ML reusable water bottle helps me reach my daily water goals.
2. I meal plan every Sunday to make sure I eat well through the week.
3. For a good nights rest, I rely on melatonin. It's naturally occurring in the body, but blue light from our devices prevent our bodies from producing it. It's a great natural remedy for sleep.

GET YOUR MIND OFF OF IT
Stay away from social media. Social media is gasoline, and you are a match. When you're feeling shitty, the last thing you want to see are people on social media as happy as can be. I enjoy reading when I can't shake a bad mood. I suggest you re-read your favorite book or pick up something new.  Reading will allow your mind to take a break from the real world, and hopefully, reset your mood. I Highly recommend you choose fiction books for this.  I am currently reading The Siren by Kiera Cass. However, my current favorite book is The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

BYE BAD MOOD MEDITATION
Take a moment out of your day  to meditate. Meditation allows    you to be still and reflect on  yourself. Taking a moment to    think and reconnect with the  present can positively influence your mood. I use an app called Calm to meditate daily. Calm has a guided meditation for every occasion. Try a seven-day free trial with Calm to see if meditation is something that can help you. I have a yearly subscription because I enjoy it so much. Not sponsored btw.

GET MOVING
Work out or walk it out. For years walking has been the way I clear my mind. Whether it be anxiety or a bad mood, walking always helps. Alternatively, you can work out. A session of physical activity will produce serotonin in your brain which is one of the happiness chemicals. Physical activity may be the key to eliminate your bad mood.

NOW DO IT
Try something on this list and see the results! I promise that one of these activities will make you feel better. Let me know in the comments what you like to do when you're in a bad mood. Stay positive and remember its okay to feel bad, it's all part of the process. It is not about how you feel now, it's about but what you do to change it. Keep striving for more and never give up.

Happy day to you, have a wonderful week.
