A Gemstone For Every Month

Birthstones are the first connection many of us make to this great big world full of gemstones.
It is said that the idea of birthstones originated with the breastplate worn by Aaron in the book of Exodus, which was set with 12 stones that were said the correspond to the 12 tribes of Israel, in other words, the 12 months and zodiac signs.
To have a gemstone associated with the month we were born is a very fascinating thing. Learning about the legends and stories around each gemstone only adds the fun.
The beauty about birthstones is that they’re not like zodiac signs. No matter the day born, you and a million other people have that same gemstone for the month you were born in.
